He Shed His Blood for Us! (Pt 1)

Christians know about the sacrifice that Jesus gave for us! He willingly shed His blood …..and  gave His life….for us.  We all know this, and many have known it for years and years! We read about the cross in the Word, hear it preached occasionally from the pulpit, and refer to it in our praise and worship songs.  Because He first loved us, gave His life for us, we have come to Him and asked Him to be our Lord and savior! That Jesus lived, died on a Cross, and was resurrected, has become our doctrine, the core of our beliefs, but how long has it been since we really thought about what that means? We can get so desensitized by the familiarity of it. But really not one of us can really know the price that Jesus paid for redeeming us.  We know that Jesus suffered excruciatingly at Calvary. In fact the very word “excruciating” comes from the root word crucifixion.
Can you hear His flesh being torn from His back at the whipping post? Can you smell His blood? Can you see Him struggling under the weight of His Cross as He stumbles along Via Della Rosa? We cannot afford to become complacent about what He sacrificed for us, what He went through to give us life, to give us freedom, to pay the very price for our sins with His blood…..God declares in His Word that life is in the blood and that by the blood shall be the only means of atonement.
Lev. 17:11
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul

Heb 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission.” That is one of those churchy words we use, but do we really know what it means? According to the Greek Concordance and Nave’s Topical Bible, Remission is a letting go, a dismissal- pardon. It’s relief, freedom, exemption from the consequences of an offense- forgiveness It is the blood of Jesus that bought our freedom for us, because of His blood. It’s by His blood that we are forgiven for our sins!  It’s by His blood that we can have eternal life! As I was studying for and preparing this teaching, I could hear in my spirit, "make the Blood of Jesus fresh in your life" WOW I have been thinking about how to do that, make His blood fresh in my life, like when I first came to Him,  One way is to meditate on His love, on His   suffering, the ways He bled and what He redeemed for us through His blood.  Another way, is to watch the movie, Passion of the Christ....very graphic.  I assigned watching this as homework for MOMENTUM, our Bible Study Group.  Do whatever it takes to keep that awareness of the price He paid for us, make it real to you! i will continure this teaching in a couple of days, Bless you
